Hymn 287

For all the saints, who from their labors rest, who thee by faith befor_e the world confessed, thy Name, 0 Jesus, be forever blessed. Alleluia, Alleluia! Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might; thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight; thou, in the darkness drear, the one true Light. Alleluia, Alleluia! The golden evening brightens in the west; soon, soon to faithful warriors cometh rest; sweet is the calm of paradise the blest. Alleluia, Alleluia! But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day; the saints triumphant rise in bright array; the King of glory passes on his way. Alleluia, Alleluia!

The Collect

A reading from the Prophecy of Isaiah - William Morley The 41st Chapter, beginning with the Eighth Verse.

Nunc Dimittis (said by all)

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word; For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all people, To be a light to lighten the Gentiles, and to be the glory of thy people Israel

A reading from Paul's 1st Letter to the Corinthians - Lenny Erickson The Fifteenth Chapter, beginning with the 32nd Verse.

Psalm 46 (said by all)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, and the mountains tremble with its tumult. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of the city; she shall not be moved; God will help her when the morning dawns. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

The Holy Gospel according to John, Chapter 14, Verses 1 through 6.

Homily and Remarks --The Rev. Sidney-Symington - Rector, et al.

Hymn 488

Be thou my vision, 0 Lord of my heart; all else be nought to me, save that thou art- thou my best thought, by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; thou my great Father; thine own may I be; thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee. High King of heaven, when victory is won, may I reach heaven's joys, bright heaven's Sun! Heart of my heart, whatever befall, still be my Vision, 0 Ruler of all.

Prayer after Communion (said by all)

Almighty God, we thank you that in your great love you have fed us with the spiritual food and drink of the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ, and have given us a foretaste of your heavenly banquet. Grant that this Sacrament may be to us a comfort in affliction, and a pledge of our inheritance in that kingdom where there is no death, neither sorrow nor crying, but the fullness of joy with all your saints; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Commendation

Celebrant: Give rest, 0 Christ,
to your servant with your saints,

People: where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting,

Hymn 526

Let saints on earth in concert sing with those who work is done; for all the servants of our King in heaven and earth are one. One family, we dwell in him, one Church, above, beneath, though now divided by the stream, the narrow stream of death. E'en now by faith we join our hands with those who went before, and greet our ever-living band on that eternal shore. Jesus, be thou our constant Guide; then, when the word is given, bid Jordan's narrow stream divide, and bring us safe to heaven.
